CARE Egypt's work is
guided by its Program Goal that calls for
An Empowered Civil Society that actively interacts with
the private sector, and government to realize economic
and social rights. To this end, CARE Egypt partners with
different players in order to bring an end to poverty.
Partnership with NGOs
To enhance local support
for community-led initiatives over the long-term, CARE
Egypt works to build the capacity of Egyptian
community-based organizations. CARE’s approach is to
partner with community development associations (CDAs)
and other civil society organizations at the field
level. CARE and its partners are then better
positioned to make informed decisions about how certain
interventions should be carried in the community. CARE
also provides capacity building and institutional
strengthening initiatives to selected CDAs to enable
them to continue their work after CARE's projects ends.
Partnership with the Private Sector
During the last few years CARE came to realize the
important role that the private sector can and should
play to promote development in Egypt. CARE Egypt
partners with a number of private sector companies to
help realize specific goals.
Partnership with Government CARE's
work in Egypt is
within the framework of a Basic Agreement between the
Government of Egypt and CARE signed on June 17, 1976.
CARE has a well-established working relationship with
the Egyptian Ministry of Insurance and Social Affairs (MISA).
In
recognition of CARE's work in the field of social development,
a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the
Ministry, has been
signed and allows CARE to continue to operate in seven
governorates of Upper and Middle Egypt. CARE continues to receive the endorsement of
governors of each Governorate to continue and/or expand
operations.
